The stupidity of it is matched only by the utter pointlessness of it. Making matters worse, it was part of a single driving course of action Luffy took all the way from Amazon Lilly through Impel Down and finally inordinate hours of running about 10 metres across ice only for it to come to nothing because a guy literally made of fire got burnt to death by hot rocks.
#One piece marineford ending gif series
It was genuinely the first point in the series where I started fast-forwarding through chunks of episodes because most of it was pointless time-filler. It was something like 18 hours, most of which consists of Luffy running in a straight line, shouting “ACE!” a lot and getting knocked back over and over again… Moreso in the anime, but I wasn’t best fond of it in the manga either. I guess I’m seriously in the minority… but I hated Marineford. Thanks for making this list though as it has come in handy for me as a new viewer and fan of One Piece. Anime almost never makes me laugh out loud, but I laughed so hard at the ultimate robot and Robin’s reaction that I immediately rewound it just to watch it again. My only real complaint about your list so far is that you didn’t include the Pirate Docking as a notable moment from Thriller Bark. I’m almost done with Saobody Archipelago and it is personally my favorite sub-arc so far because I never expected One Piece to go so dark (and the introductions of the supernovas got me sooo hyped). I’ve mostly avoided reading the descriptions until AFTER I watch the arcs, but I appreciate that what I have read in advance is largely spoiler-free. It helped get me psyched for watching Water 7 and Ennies Lobby when I saw they were in your top 3. I started watching One Piece a few weeks ago and I’ve been using this list as a constant reference to know which arcs and sub-arcs I’m watching since you break it down by episodes.

One Piece: List Of All The Unsolved Mysteries In The Series Where Do you think Wano Arc should be on this list? Update: I haven’t included the Wano arc yet as I am waiting for it to be over. But the loss of Ace and the sacrifice Luffy made from Amazon Lily, Impel Down to Marineford going in vain makes this arc one of the greatest in anime or manga and not to mention the Blackbeard’s interference at the climax. If the arc had ended with Ace being saved, it would still have been a great arc. Luffy screaming in disbelief with a dead Ace in his hands remains the saddest One Piece moment in the story. But I genuinely didn’t think Ace was going to die especially after Luffy saves him. In retrospect, it should have been expected especially after Sabaody. Oda manages to handle Luffy phenomenally even in this situation as his actions and achievements never come off as plot armor.Īs the arc reaches the end, the most unexpected thing happens – the death of Ace. Luffy is placed in a where almost every named character is stronger than him. The arc is filled with so many important characters that it is amazing that Oda manages to use everyone efficiently. It may be easy to forget that Luffy isn’t present in this arc for several episodes, yet we fully get grown towards Whitebeard pirates who act as the protagonists initially. We finally get to meet the long-teased Whitebeard and his crew in action. It shows the long-awaited war between Whitebeard Pirates and the World Government of Navy and Warlords. There are several things that make Marineford amazing. Marineford arc is one of my favorite arcs of all time in manga.

Water 7 Episodes: 229 to 263 Chapters: 332 to 374 Overall, Sabaody Archipelago is one of the arcs that make One Piece special.ģ. Luffy uncharacteristically asking everyone to just escape still remains one of the most heartbreaking moments in the show. Strawhats losing utterly and getting scattered is something I thought I will never see in the show. I expected that they will somehow escape or even defeat the admiral by fighting somehow. But none would have expected the utter defeat that Strawhats would experience in this arc. We expect that Strawhats will get involved with the slavery system at one point in this arc. In this arc, we get introduced to the concept of slavery and discrimination, the Supernovas and Rayleigh. At that time, Sabaody Archipelago seemed like a transition arc to Fishman, similar to Jaya or Loguetown arc. Sabaody Archipelago arc subverts the expectations of the readers.
